    Thanks Mike,

At the moment the question is more of how to remove the current coating that is still well bonded to the lead rather than what to put back on it. I am sure that West system will work well.

The reason I ask about stripping is that every year more and more of the epoxy pops off around the edges, with oxidation underneeth!

I picked it up this AM and it only cost $110! It’s also been repainted, looks new.

They are not more trouble than they are worth! I have had them in two boats now and wonuld not own a boat without one.
It has been 15 years on Wanderlust. However when I installed the first one on Wanderlust I used an unvented one that required burping! So this season reworked it into a vented one. Why I didn’t do that 15 years ago I don’t know as the one on my previous boat was vented. They only sell vented units today.

    Gentlemen,

I have recently completed using 3M polishing kits to refinish all thirteen of my ports. It did a great job, I can see out again! Hope it will help me find my to Oxford in June.

    Dickerson owners,
Yesterday I purchased a 3M lens restoration kit from my local auto parts store. I have three large overhead hatches and decided to try it on one of them…….Wow……..what a difference. It worked so well that I purchased a second kit on my way home and plan to do the two other hatches by next week.

    Hi Tom,
Try calling Jin Carr at Oxford Boat Yard in Oxford, Md. 410-226-0100. He sold Dickersons when they were in business and is still involved in brokerage.

    Joe,
My primary, parker, is 2 microns. The other two on the engine I think are also 2 microns. I realize 2 microns as a primary is over kill but that’s the way it has been for many years so I will continue.

    Hi Joe,
Funny you should ask. Today for the first time I removed the primary filter element from the filter/water separator and flushed the housing completely with fresh diesel. A lot of junk came out. After I replaced the filter element. I replace all three of my filters, all in series, every two years, approx. 120 hrs, I do it more often when I head south. I consider filter elements cheep insurance!

    Dana,

Keep in mind we are not talking the same boat. We put it under the settee just outside the head. No leak problems with leaks. The bag is surposed to collaps as you pump it dry! Easy to monitor how full it is.

    Hi Dana,

We replaced the useless 6 gal. waste tank on our 37 with a 25 gal. flexible tank ( bag) works great. Make sure you have a manual pump and plenty of valves to give you complete flexibility.
