Anyone out there tired of dealing with white paint falling off their aluminum side ports?

Would these be the Bomar ports on the later boats. I believe they had baked on Awlgrip paint. When we paint aluminum we usually use Alodine on the aluminum as a base coat to help the Awlgrip stick. To learn more about Alodine, visit this site.Yes they are Bomar. The short story is I removed all the paint from the out side of the window frame it self and then lightly sanded them. Much of the paint had fallen off anyway. I replaced the bezels with new brushed St. St. ones which I had laser cut and then used the old bezels as templates to drill the holes. They look great. I can send pictures to anyone interested. That’s the short story!

In looking through a few pictures that our members have sent in for the Directory—looks to me as the newest boats may have come out of the yard with st. st. bezels. Snoodle Time ????
I assume that on Crew Rest and older boats (1984) the ports had been painted white from the beginning. Am I correct?
From the 37 on, all boats had the Bomar white painted, except Eclipse which had bronze Spartan ports and I believe the last two boats built which had SS ports.
FYI, Wanderlust #37 was the next to the last boat built. From what I have seen the last boat, in Washington State, has St. St. prots!
Snoodle Time does have stainless steel ports. A good thing too as I just finished up replacing the gaskets in all 10. Most of them had little drips when it rained hard.
I’m not sure where my boat was as far as being one of the last ones completed. It is my understanding the hull was sitting for some amount of time before the original owners approached Dickerson to complete it for them. Although it was not the last hull produced, I do understand it was actually the last vessel completed and sold.
They did get some nice options like S/S ports, coach roof mounted traveler, extra hatches and teak on the aft lazzerette, and opening doors under the settee’s. That option is neat.
By the way, it is hull # 36.
The last boat was actually about 60% complete when the company was sold to the current owner. He had his guys finish the boat – they had never actually been in a Dickerson and it has a lot of different options. Very much a non-standard boat.
Appreciate the info. I have a couple of lovely pictures of “Carousel”, the “last 37” mentioned by Alan on my other computer. I’ll include those pics in the Directory.
Thanks for the hull numbers. I’m doing my best to create a list of boats in proper production sequence.
