TessannaParticipantHi Folks, Tessanna here, formerly Windsong, 1981 37′ CC Ketch, former owner John Smith. Purchased in Aug/08 and been in love since. On the hard at present, doing upgrades. Would appreciate any and all advice. Looking to change the 2 blade prop to a 3 blade, stationary. Engine is a Perkins 4108. Any suggestions on size and pitch?. Thanks Eric

Irish MistKeymasterHi Eric,
Welcome aboard. I have a 35 with a 3 blade prop. Will check in to try and get details. What is your port. Wind Song is a great boat and won several races. Hope you can join us in the races at the Rendezvous in June–see Home page. May want to keep present prop until then.
All the Best

John CareyGuestEric,
If it is of any help, I am parting out a 35 Dickerson and have a RH13x9 three blade prop which I planned to use with a Perkins 4-108 and Hurth transmission. It did not come with the original boat as the original engine was a Westerbeke 4-107 with a Paragon transmission, which I believe would require a LH prop.
Thank you Joe. for connecting the dots.

TessannaParticipantThanks for the replies. John I’ll need to find out if that will work. If so that would be great. Theres another 37 Ketch in my marina (Serifin). He has a 3 blade prop. I’m gonna contact him to see what it is. I’ll get back to you.

Irish MistKeymasterAlan do you recall if there are any prop specs from the Dickerson Yard and what company was their main supplier of propellars.

Al SampsonParticipantHi Eric,
Wanderlust has a Westerbeke 33, 4 cyl, the three blade prop was a 15/13RH w/1″shaft. We have replaced it with a Max Prop which works very well. If you replace the prop I would recommend using a urethane bearing and a mechanical dripless shaft seal. It was worth all the work. -
