I’m new to the forum. I have a 36 cc Ketch 1976.
I am in Fort Myers. Are there any other owners in south florida?
It seems as though the only thing that I am not going to have to rebuild is the hull so I am preparing for a labor of love. I am looking forward to chatting with those of you that were once in my shoes.

Welcome to the forum and the finest fraternity of sailors you can find anywhere. Here you will find not only fellow Floridian Dickerson owners, but also several who have endured the refit challenges you face.
As the keeper of “all things Dickerson” data, I am interested in capturing all things you know about your boat (and you). By knowing these tidbits, our membership can better assist you and potentially provide you helpful historiucal data and reference connections. So please forward me everything you know about the history of your boat. Separate email is fine. I compile this information for the annual directory.
I am not sure where to start. Now it is looking like my best course of action is to strip the boat down to the hull and start from scratch. I am hoping that I can use the existing cabin top as a mold of sorts to make a new cabin house and deck. I haven’t carved any plans in stone yet. It would be help full to find a good and inexpensive boat moving service with a hydraulic trailer to move the boat from south Florida to central Arkansas for the work to begin. There are things that I want to add to the design and also things that I want to change about the layout. For example I was considering changing the boat from a cc to an aft cockpit. Also converting to an electric motor with a generator backup. I would also like to incorporate the use of solar hot water heating as well as adding a gravity fed water chamber topside to create my water pressure. I don’t however want to loose the beautiful lines and aerodynamic shape of this classic sailboat. I would love to visit some time and pick your brain if it isn’t too sore.

Good morning Severance,
I am the owner of 1978 aft cockpit Dickerson 36. I have owned her for the past 12 years and so far have not had to take on any major repairs or upgrades. This past winter I did rebuild her water tanks that are under the forward “V” berths. Other than that it has just been the annual teak and paint upkeep. My wife and I have really enjoyed our Dickerson and spend at least 4 days out of the week aboard during spring, summer and fall. If at all possible you should try to drive up to Oxford, Md. next month for the annual Dickerson rendezvous. Nowhere else will you find as great a collection of classic Dickersons in one place at one time. You would be able to meet and talk with the owners and get ideas and first hand advice and experience for your rebuild. Good luck with your project and keep us advised of your progress.

What I need right now most of all is someone with a hydraulic trailer to move the boat to Arkansas from Florida to begin the rebuild. If anyone might know who I can speak to I would appreciate it.
