Hi to all, I am new to the world of Dickerson boats and equally new to that of wooden hulls. That being said, I am entertaining the notion of becoming the owner of both.
I have some reservations though, I am not sure if wooden hulls will fare well in temperate climates (Gulf of Mexico, Carribean…) and not sure of the extra maintenance vs fiberglass.
Also, the particular boat that I am looking at is a 1977 41′ Ketch and from the reading I’ve been doing, they didn’t make one in wood that year or any year after 1974. This is indeed as the owner states NOT fiberglass or composite layered over wood, but planked wood.
Any info or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
