We have the original refrigeration system (1979) that Dickerson installed in our 41′ ketch. It is a 110 volt holding plate system that runs off of our generator or shore power. I am planning to replace it and am eager for suggestions. I have been told that when they built boats like mine they filled the outside walls of the refrigeration compartment with foam while the mold was still inverted, resulting in a very good r factor. Can anyone confirm that? I have been thinking that we needed to rebuild the compartment to get the insulation up to current standards, but I would love to avoid that task.
Thanks for any suggestions/comments.
