Rainbow will be re-launched this Friday after having its annual Irish Mist slip wax applied for the race.
I’ve always struggled with keeping the hull planks from drying out and opening up while out for painting and this year tried a new method. In as many places as I could get to, I lined the inside of the hull with cotton towels. I wet these down once or twice a day and they stay nice and wet for a long time and hold the water. I ‘m happy to report that not one seam opened up this year despite being out for a week in some 90 degree weather.
I bought the towels at Cosco in two twelve packs. The are the hand/guest towel size and fit nicely between the frames.
