Fleet CaptainKeymasterAhoy there DOA’ers,
Judy and I just returned from Bermuda today celebrating our 40th anniversary (don’t know how she tolerates me) and I’m turning my full attention to finishing the 2009 Directory and getting ready for the sail north.
Wanted to let you know that the Southern Bay Fleet will be well represented by Volantis (D50), Crew Rest (D37) and Aequanimitas (D36). Regret that Snoodle Time (D37) and A Bientot (D37) will not be with us but we trust that they will be able to join in next year. The three of us will be coordinating float plans this next week and would love to have mid-bayer’s join up with us as we progress north–let us know your plans.
Crew Rest Out.

RainbowKeymasterMembers of the Northern Bay fleet are working to meet up around 2 in the Choptank.
Should we all set out VHF to 68?

Fleet CaptainKeymasterA quick progress report—-no known changes. There will no doubt be match-ups enroute while still in the Bay, but it looks like several of the boats from the Peoples’ Republic of Maryland are planning to come through the Narrows at around 1300 on Friday. Will the fleet from the Great Commonwealth of Virginia be poised inside the Choptank to greet them? Will it be as spectacular as the Battle of the Iron Clads in Hampton Roads—or even a remake of the Oyster Wars? Only time will tell. Stay tuned, be there, and listen up on Channel 68.

Fleet CaptainKeymasterWhew—-we made it! If anybody needed affirmation of the seaworthiness of our Dickersons, you should have been with us the last couple of days. Hampton to Mill Creek on Monday and then on to Trippe Creek past Oxford yesterday. Put 1 hour on the engine clock in two daysl (Boy, are we going to be heavy for the race.) Rafted up with Bob and Sarah Shelton on Aequaminitas on Monday evening. Wait till you all see the beautiful work they have done.
Having a leisure morning on the hook and listening to the pattering of rain. Think we will head to Cambridge for tonite to see family. Have good voyages–we’ll be waiting for you.

Fleet CaptainKeymasterWhoops—correction. Hampton to Mill Creek TUESDAY and arrival on WEDNESDAY. We’ve thrown out the clocks and calendars.

Rshel34ParticipantRight now we are planning to lay over today in Solomons. If the thunderstorm thread eases later today we may come on to Oxford. You are right about tough boats. A lot tougher than some of their owners. Yesterday was one of the roughest days I have been on the bay in many a year. Unlike you, we motorsailed with a reefed jib and made great time. This was a case of being more interested in getting to a destination than in pure sailing. See you all soon.

Fleet CaptainKeymasterSpending a peaceful night in the Cambridge Municipal Marina on the T-Head across from Southern Cross–know that D and Don are here but we haven’t seen them yet. Expect that we will leave in the AM to meet up with the Peoples’ Republic of Maryland Fleet circa 1300 coming through Knapps.
We will use USN Rules of Engagement–let’s circle around Choptank River Light until we have enough for a parade–then “first one in the air is lead”!
Looking foreward to the arrival of Volantis—by this point, we need some class (adding dignity to what would otherwise be a vulgar affair.
Everyone check in on channel 68.
Crew Rest Out!
