I would like to get serious this year about blue water cruising in my 36′ center cockpit ketch Sophiep II here on the west coast of the U.S.
Does anyone have any experience with a self steering windvane, such as a hydrovane or monitor, on a ketch like mine? Is it a big help on long passages? I have hydraulic steering and a hydraulic auto pilot (that likes to eat power).
