For the last couple of years the transmission on our 1982 center cockpit 37′ ketch wouldn’t always pop into forward, some hesitation. I finally took the transmission out and took it to American Marine Transmissions, Edgewater, Maryland, (410 956 2100), on the recommendation of our marina owner.
American Marine Transmissions basically rebuilt the whole transmission: $1500. They were a pleasure to deal with. Dottie and I put it back in. Now we hope never to have a problem shifting into forward to get through Kent Narrows.
A couple years ago we replaced the fuel tank on the port side, under the counter.
We’ll be at the rendezvous in June to share stories and ideas.

    Rick and Dottie,

Thanks very much for sharing your experience and results (and a good referral). It’s been a year full of big projects for many of our members. “Rhythms in Blue” has a new rig. “Snoodle Time” has been completely repowered and of course the skippers of “Irish Mist” and Rainbow” aren’t telling what they’ve done in search of another tenth of a knot. So thanks for your willingness to share your experiences.

The plans for the rendezvous are coming together nicely. I stopped by Mears Yacht Haven last week to do a “face to face” with Tom and Kim. They are eager to see us all–our New England Fleet Captain will be sailing down, we will have some new (to us) boats from the lower Bay and all signs point to “bigger and better”. So I ask all members to make plans and reservations now — I have my spot reserved!

    Barry
