Ahoy, shipmates…
My wife and I recently purchased a 1958 41′ (35’5″) Dickerson Ketch. She was on the brink of the scrap pile but, we saved her.
I am a yacht carpenter by trade so, her wooden hull is just “stuff” for me….that said, I’ve got more questions than this forum could hold..
This vessel was named “Maaken II” and hails from Rock Hall Md. Her lineage and ownership is sketchy at best…not to mention her specs.
Can anyone describe what her rigging should look like? I am not terribly familiar with tabernacle masts.
She has a Gray Marine (we think) gas engine with a submerged exhaust..any thoughts or info on this?…eventually I will swap this one out for a small diesel but, right now, the hull is occupying my time and finances.
Nice to see these boats get their deserved respect and love…I should probably mention our port o’call…We are in Portsmouth, VA..
