PETER  What is the name of your D41?  We hear really good things about Strong track for full batten sails.  It might make it easier to get the sail up and down.  We could not retro fit to our Metal Mast sticks but might work on Annapolis Spars if you have a later boat than our 1974 D 41.

Congratulations Brad and Melinda on your new purchase and welcome to the Dickerson family.  We hope that you enjoy your boat as much as we have ours, SOUTHERN CROSS, the first Dickerson 41.  Do you know any of the history of BAREFOOT LADY?

    Feel free to contact us

If you want to come further south for warmer weather, we can recommend Sailcraft Services in Oriental NC the sailing capital of NC.  Dog friendly town, can work and stay on your boat in the yard, good yard workers, showers and washer/dryer on site, easy walk or bike ride to grocery store, restaurants, marine consignment store, hardware store, PO, pharmacy…….and a boat friendly town.  889 residents, 2500 boats.

Unfortunately, we have plenty of experience with rot. Don says “rot never sleeps”. You say the rot is in your hull, where? We have replaced planks in ours and may be able to advise.

SOUTHERN CROSS came through hurricane Irene in her little hurricane hole located in Oriental North Carolina with flying colors. There was 9.5 feet difference from the high water to the low water. Pretty impressive. Gusts were reported at 137 mph but our TacTick wind instrument only showed 55 knots. (it is a good hurricane hole) We have photos if you are interested.

Welcome aboard DOCENT and GALATEA to the great group of Dickerson owners.

Anything we can do to help , just let us know. We are the owners of SOUTHERN CROSS, the last wooden hull built by Dickerson, a 41 built in 1974. Currently we are in Oriental, North Carolina, on the inner banks.

May we recommend a week cruise after the Dickerson Rendezvous this year? I would love to have others join us.
