Received a brochure from Barry. One of the line drawings is the exact hull layout as mine. Thanks. My boat is parked on my acreage in Green Cove Springs. My boat stands did come form the marina though. The owner was kind enough to let  me buy a few used stands. I had a set lined up but at the last minute heard nothing back from the seller. They did respond a day after the boat was delivered. the project will probably take 6 months to a year to complete. I'll post pictures soon.

Thanks for the info. I'm moving her from Ft. Myers Beach to Green Cove Springs, Fl. I plan to bring her to my property where I can work on completing the restoration. I have a fairly complete shop so it will be much easier and less expensive than if I park her in a marina. I got a decent quote this morning for a transporter who has a hydraulic trailer which will save me from having to hire a crane for off loading.

This may help with the missing info. According to the abstract I received the Bakers sold the boat to the John and Gladys Blair on December 1, 1978. A preferred mortgage in the amount of 46,749.80 by Provident National Bank was recorded on Feb. 14, 1979. The Blairs apparently renamed the boat Severance. The boat was sold to Michael Huber on March 23, 2007, after which it was sold to Kenneth James on October 5, 2007. I purchased her on October 11, 2011 from Kenneth James.

    Thanks,

When I move the boat to North Florida I will have to contend with the Shands bridge. Home port is just south of Green Clove Springs. The clearance is 45 feet so it will be close.

Update: I am still working on the blisters. The moisture meter readings finally dropped to less than 5%. I have started laminating new glass into the larger cavities. I’ll add new photos tomorrow morning. During the course of this project I discovered that the stern area of the keel and the bow have the larger voids that ultimately became blisters. The largest problem area was the bow just below the water line. What started as the excavation of a small blister grew to a length of 25 inches. That area contained a run of roving that was never saturated when the boat was built. I kept grinding until I reached dry solid laminate. I don’t know if this is a problem specific to my boat of whether they had difficulty wetting out the roving in this area of other hulls. Glass Dickerson owners might want to sound their hulls in those areas next haul out.

Found that NADA has a retail value assigned to Dickersons made from 1977 forward. A link is below.

Mike, you are correct the engine is in fact a 4-107 with a Paragon not the 30. The engine is original to the boat. The previous owner had the engine certified as original which gets me a discount on the annual state sticker.

From the material I found it appears the vessel has always had the same name (Severance) since it was new. The documentation number is 598829. It appears to have been purchased new by an individual from Jacksonville, Florida who later moved to the Ft. Myers area. I’ll know for certain once I receive the abstract. I will be moving the vessel back to Northeast Florida (Green Cove Springs) once the bottom is finished.

I was surprised to find the blisters particularly the one that penetrated the keel. The latter blister is definitely the result of void during layup. I’ll shoot some picture of the remaining part of the void. The heat likely accelerated the process. Still its not bad for a boat that’s almost 40. I have read about using vinyl ester rather than epoxy. For the immediate present I will be using epoxy. I am considering replacing the outer skin at some point in the future and may use vinyl ester if I do so. The most recent owner covered the decks and cabins with fiberglass. It still needs to be faired and the port lights reinstalled. Both are projects I will likely complete once I move the boat.

Does anyone have photos of the forward cabin? The previous owner modified it removing the cabinetry and building an elevated berth. At some pint I will return it to original condition. I also need to see the slide hardware for the cabin hatches. he previous owner rebuilt one of the hatches but didn’t reinstall the hardware. I have couple of bronze parts that are likely candidates but I want to be sure before I reinstall them. Any help is appreciated.
