RainbowKeymasterHousley Sailmakers in Annapolis at Bert Jabin’s Yard is great for cruising sails. He is a little quirky but does good work. All of my sails and canvass are from Glenn. If you call there, tell John Freal referred you and he will take good care of you. His sails may cost a bit more, but they last a long time. Mine are over six years old and still in great shape.
RainbowKeymasterMembers of the Northern Bay fleet are working to meet up around 2 in the Choptank.
Should we all set out VHF to 68?
RainbowKeymasterHappy to send pictures to all who want them. Send your email address to jwf@brackenusa.com

RainbowKeymasterRainbow pulled the aluminum frames and plexiglass out a number of years ago. Replaced them with bronze ports. They have now turned a lovely shade of green, except for where the varnish dripped on them.
RainbowKeymasterThis is a fun race. Another chance for us to get together and also to show the rest of the bay what real sailboats look like! Hope more of us can make it next year.
RainbowKeymasterRainbow had a problem on both main and mizzen with a crease running parallel to the leach where the forward end of the batten pocket was. I had the top two battens converted to full length on each sail and it did the trick. The sails have much better shape. Having the just the top two battens full lenght give enough support to the sail so that the lower battens behave. This seems to help with upwind sailing and she seems to point a little better.
RainbowKeymasterHi Joe,
I had the same problem when I was first acquired by Rainbow. Starboard side main cabin leaks. I removed the eyebrows in the offending area and made the repair with new glass cloth.
Several years ago over one winter, I stripped the cabin top completely and took it down to the fiberglass. All of the eybrows were removed. This is also when I veneered the cabin sides with quarter inch mahogany. The original mahogany under the paint was pretty rough and i wanted to have bright cabin sides.
Anyway, I re-glassed the entire cabin top and ran the cloth six inches over the turn of the cabin top and down the sides. The mahogany was veneered over the cloth so it is now nice and dry.
