adminParticipantI know while I was working at Dickerson, Latex paints were unheard of in a boat yard (and I suspect that is still true). I have to second the Easypoxy or Britesides paints for durability and gloss retention.

adminParticipantNo other accounts are being deleted after the massive pruning a while back. If you have an account you wish to remain active I would highly suggest logging in from time to time just to chat in any event.
adminParticipantThat's actually at Dickerson a couple of years ago. Note the conspicuous absence of any Dickerson's!
adminParticipantSorry, I haven’t been to the forums for a while. I believe the mold is still in Trappe at the Dickerson yard. You could probably get Dickerson Harbor to lay one up. The phone number is 410-822-8556 or email them at : dickerson@oya.com
adminParticipantI used to attach a copper tube on the end of a hand pump to reach the bottom of the tank and pump out any gunk that way several times during the season on the charter boats. You should do this after the boat has sat for a while so all sediment has settled – quick, cheap and easy!

adminParticipantSteve,
Does your boat have the SS chain plate covers? If so, it is easy to remove them, scrape out the old bedding and rebed. It is important to get the old dried out bedding out before applying new. I would suggest Sikaflex for this. I think the covers were a Schaefer Marine product. It is better to put too much bedding in and have to clean up the squeeze out rather than not have enough and have to do the job again.
adminParticipantDo you mean underneath your username on the left?
This board is very low tech (and not of interest to spammers). There are some alterations I am working on to be able to upload an “avatar”, but I haven’t had time to investigate yet. If you email it to me, I can put it up for you
adminParticipantThe last boat was actually about 60% complete when the company was sold to the current owner. He had his guys finish the boat – they had never actually been in a Dickerson and it has a lot of different options. Very much a non-standard boat.
adminParticipantFrom the 37 on, all boats had the Bomar white painted, except Eclipse which had bronze Spartan ports and I believe the last two boats built which had SS ports.
adminParticipantAl sent me photos to share with anyone who is interested (Thanks Al).

adminParticipantWith the addition of Barry and Mike, I believe we have the staff required to keep the board clean and active. We will try to answer any questions that do not receive quick responses in order to make this a better resource.
adminParticipantWhen I was managing the fleet, I had 2 center cockpits (Andromeda and Valhalla), a few sloops (Running Free, Eclipse, Moondancer) and a two cutters (Aliyah is the only one that comes to mind). There were eight total so I have forgotten one boat. It would be nice to know where they have ended up.
adminParticipantThanks to Joe Slavin of Irish Mist who has joined as a moderator ( and a very active poster). Hopefully we can bring this board back to an active resource.
