Fleet CaptainKeymasterHi Dana,
Sending you a private email.
Fleet CaptainKeymasterWe have lots of folks here who can help. I might suggest that it may be more a matter of your boat than your husband’s experience. If so, a current survey will be invaluable. With that in hand, and an honest listing of experience, you should be in good shape. We use Allstate.
We would like to more about your boat as we try to keep track of all we can. Please forward any/all information and I will enter it in our Dickerson data base.
As we celebrate this July 4th, thank you and your husband for the sacrifices you have (and continue to make) for our great nation.
Cheers,
Barry
Fleet CaptainKeymasterHi Bob,
Five boats in the arrival parade—12 boats raced plus Starry Night that had to stand down, makes 13 I can count. I don’t have a count on the people—Dick does. Pictures of all coming to the site—stay tuned.
Fleet CaptainKeymasterAlrighty Sports Fans,
Thus far, we have heard from “Snoodle Time”, “Aequaminitas”, “Hemisphere Dancer”, “Irish Mist”, and “Rainbow”. Along with “Crew Rest” that makes a six-ship — interesting but not overly impressive. I’m counting on 4 elements of 3 each. So let’s have some more commitment out there gang. Plan your arrival the best you can and let us know your intentions to participate. This is your big chance for fame and fortune and an “8X10 glossy photagraph-suitable for framing”.

Fleet CaptainKeymasterAhoy Severance,
Welcome to the forum and the finest fraternity of sailors you can find anywhere. Here you will find not only fellow Floridian Dickerson owners, but also several who have endured the refit challenges you face.
As the keeper of “all things Dickerson” data, I am interested in capturing all things you know about your boat (and you). By knowing these tidbits, our membership can better assist you and potentially provide you helpful historiucal data and reference connections. So please forward me everything you know about the history of your boat. Separate email is fine. I compile this information for the annual directory.
Fleet CaptainKeymasterBob,
You’ve made my crew blush (and she thanks you). We had a great first sail of the season. Winds down here rose and fell–5 knots to 23. All systems came up on speed–“Crew Rest” was like a Preakness Pony. Planning for the trip to the Rendezvous is just beginning, but hope that “Snoodle Time” can leave with us on the 15th and that would put us in your neighborhood for a departure on the 16th heading north.
Fleet CaptainKeymasterFinally
my crew (and room mate and wife of 4 decades) can wait no longer. Tomorrow is the day. We will be kicking off our 2010 sailing season. (Barring all kinds of things that could get in our way). Meet you on channel 16.
Fleet CaptainKeymasterSteve,
The real treasure is having dedicated folks like Cap’n Joe actively engaged in this life we all enjoy–a great skipper of a great boat. But watch out flotilla of the Peoples Republic of Maryland
the Commonwealth will rise again. Counting the days (and sanding the teak)……..
Fleet CaptainKeymasterHi Linda,
Please pardon me if I should know this–or I do know this and I forgot. But as a member of the DOA membership commitee and “keeper of all data-Dickerson”, I would love to know “of which boat we are searching for a mast”. You might note from my many posts, I try to keep track of boats/size/registry/lineage/etc. etc. Private email is fine if you would rather–but the DOA is commited to preserving the heritage of these great yachts. Thanks.
Barry
Now on to finding you a mast.
Fleet CaptainKeymasterTwo thumbs up!
Sealife sealant and Meguir plastic restoration kit are both winners. Almost time to go sailing with “Snoodle Time”. Isolated storms predicted for Saturday—hmmm.
Steve–will you be back in the water?
Fleet CaptainKeymasterLet’s count on it! Judy and I owe it to Bob and Sarah
wonderful folks. And I bet we can coax Nancy C. into joining us for some “Dickerson Time” on the Piankatank. But she’s already warned me watch for belaying pins to the noggin and piracy. And of course, I’m assuming we will do a flotilla join on the way to Oxford.
Fleet CaptainKeymasterHello Tim,
And welcome to the Dickerson Forum, where you will find instant friends and Dickerson enthusiasts. I have forwarded you a personal email to get you started on your information quest. We have some real experts here that can assist.
Fleet CaptainKeymasterGood stuff all–thanks,
On Saturday, I cut out the sealant around the lens (that was easy)–the lens didn’t wnat to come out (I suspect some 3M 5200 on the flat surfaces where the lens meets to hatch and two braces. So I chickened out (not wanting to crack the lens), and resealed all around with BoatLife “SealLife” (I think). Don Casey describes that product as silcone with adhesion properties.
Supposed to rain tomorrow—I’ll see how it works. And I think I’ll stop by an auto shop for a restoration kit.
Fleet CaptainKeymasterSteve,
Finished up my hatch and stopped by Dandy Haven about 2:30. Saw Snoodle Time securely on the hard. She looks great. You had a perfect day. Don’t know if Crew Rest will be able to keep up with you and your slick bottom.
Barry
Fleet CaptainKeymasterLet me know if you need a hand. I’ll be rebedding the forward hatch lens.
