Irish MistKeymasterHi Eric,
I will call Bacon’s and get back to you. As far as I know the Davits have not been sold.
Joe
Irish MistKeymasterThanks for the note Al, Great to hear that Dick is doing so well. He is the glue that holds this organization together. We all wish him a speedy and full recovery.
All the Best
Joe
Irish MistKeymasterYou can bet if the check was cashed you are a member. You do bring up a good point. We should look at giving members a small plaque or something to hang on the wall and then when membership is renewed just send out a date change that can be pasted on.
Big problem I think is very small budget because of small membership.
We do plan to send out a 2008 Directory in March and you should be listed.
Joe, Irish Mist
Irish MistKeymasterGreat Suggestion Don,
You probably recall that this used to be a tradition. Several days after the Rendezvous Captains would get to gether for a cruise.
We plan to put out another News Letter in March. Could I ask you to write something for us on your trip.
Great to hear from you.

Irish MistKeymasterHOW ABOUT JOINING DOA AND/OR HELPING TO IMPROVE OUR ACTIVITIES
One of the new projects Barry Creighton, John Freal and I are working on is to get new Dickerson Owner Association Members. We have an e mail list of some 75 Dickerson Owners and a list that Barry has put together of over 100 boats and their owners.
As said in our latest communication the cost of membership is only $35/yr–$ 25 for Associate–special now if you join by March–your membership will go to June 2010. This cost is less than what one of us spends on sand paper.
So when all is said and done we only have about 35 members and Associate Members.
This site which is provided through the genorisity of former Dickerson boat builder Alan Willoughby has all the necessary membership forms, newsletters etc.
Also our Membership Committee of John, Barry and I could use help. Wouldn’t it be great if we could have a Membership Coordinator for each Region of the Country. What would they do? They would get Captains in their area invoved, help put together local Round Ups like Randy Bruns has done on Chesapeake Bay, contribute to newsletter etc. ANY VOLUNTEERS
We need your help.
So if you can help let me know Let us have your comments.

Irish MistKeymasterThanks Barry
Irish MistKeymasterAlan do you recall if there are any prop specs from the Dickerson Yard and what company was their main supplier of propellars.
Joe
Irish MistKeymasterHi John,
It would appear that your 3 blade prop–if you have a large one like Irish Mist-might be just what Eric–in General Discussion-3 blade prop needs.
Good luck in selling your boat and equipment.
Joe
Irish MistKeymasterHi Eric,
Welcome aboard. I have a 35 with a 3 blade prop. Will check in to try and get details. What is your port. Wind Song is a great boat and won several races. Hope you can join us in the races at the Rendezvous in June–see Home page. May want to keep present prop until then.
All the Best

Irish MistKeymasterSteve, Pictures did not come through. I got a screen that said Server Error.
All the Best
Joe
Irish MistKeymasterSorry about that. It usually is at Fathers Day Week end or this year depending on weather we get the Tred Avon Yacht Club. It Might be earlier. Be Great if you and Barry with several others who are interested could sail up to the event.
Let us know your suggestions.
All the Best
Joe, Irish Mist
Irish MistKeymasterHi Bob,
At 81 I am very interested in your main sheet system. Could you give me some more details on the set up. Do you have a photo of it. I have a 35 ketch and my main trims in to front of binnacle housing just aft of the engine hatch. I also have an Elctra San for abt 20 years on Irish Mist. Works great.
I see you keep your boat in Norfolk. Barry Creighton is getting a group together to sail to the Rendezvous in June–either on weekend of June 19 or the previous weekend. Crew Rest is a Forum Moderator so you can easily touch base.

Irish MistKeymasterHi Mike,
I thought about a windlass for a long time and decided on a light weight danfort aluminum anchor. Now if I get in a big storm I have a folding spider anchor on deck ready to go.
Works well in Chesapeake Bay where we have a lot of soft mud.

Irish MistKeymasterMike. I had just regular batten sails some 15 years old. Got all full batten main and mizzen with lazy jacks . Works great. Won a few races when they were new. Also have a mizzen stay sail. Loved the picture of your jib. I have a 150 % Genoa with roller furling. Works good.
Hope you guys can work out a Round Up In New England. You have quite a few Dickersons There.
Have a great Christmas.

Irish MistKeymasterGood questions and points. Are we getting more or less action than that and what can we do to get more.
