SPRING 2007
As 10:00 AM rolled around, we had something that was unusual, "WIND". It seems the Clarkes had sacrificed whatever was needed to appease the Dickerson wind gods, and we had a 41 breeze. From the start. "Hemisphere Dancer" jumped out, and stayed there the entire race, with "Starry Night" trying hard to make up ground.

For those of you who have not heard, unfortunately, Claxton Walker passed away this past year. Capt. Clack and Mrs. Walker continued to support the association after they had sold "Stormy Petrel" and will be greatly missed. Capt. Clack had a way of making everyone who came to a Rendezvous feel welcome and like they had been with us a hundred times before. Our deepest sympathies to the Walker family.
This will be the 40th Anniversary of the Great Dickerson Boat Race. In order to properly follow in our long standing tradition of not taking the race too serious, we are encouraging ringers this year. Not any old ringers, anybody can get a crew across the Bay for a beer, but Dickerson ringers. Invite an ex-Commodore, or Dickerson owner to crew. My bet is on the boat that can con Mrs. Hazen. Seems to me, I remember a year when she was not racing, and she was at the start, the first mark, the finish, just to see everybody else come round. Besides, this year you will more than likely need it. If you remember, the current Commodore, while exceedingly dapper and entertaining, could not come up with a lick of wind. He sponsored the first race, in 38 years, to be called at the first mark. The Race Committee will decide by the start of the race, whether or not to allow those little hand held fans to be used during the race.
The Dickerson Rendezvous dates are June 15 & 16, 2007. Festivities will be as follows:
